Businesswoman Lim Se Ryung (also pronounced as Im Se Ryung) is making headlines after she made an appearance at the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards alongside long-time boyfriend Lee Jung Jae who also won the Best Lead Actor award for his role in Squid Game.
Lim Se Ryung is also going viral on social media as fans swooned over the Chaebol’s (Korean word for rich family-owned business conglomerate) real-life K-drama-ish love story.
For the unversed, Lim Se Ryung is the Vice Chairwoman and one of the heiresses of the big business corporation Daesang group and she was once married to one of the richest men in Korea, Lee Jae-Yong aka Jay Y. Lee, who is the only son of Lee Kun-hee, the late chairman of Samsung Electronics.
Who is Lim Se Ryung?
Lim Se Ryung or Im Se Ryung is the eldest daughter of Daesang group who married Jay Y. Lee, the current Vice Chairman of Samsung in 1997. She filed for divorce from one of the richest billionaires in South Korea in 2009 and came back to serve as the Vice President at Daesang group in 2012.
The 45-year-old businesswoman reportedly has a son and a daughter with Samsung’s vice chairman who will be the heirs of the tech company.
Lim Se Ryung’s rise in the Daesang group was not easy as reports claim that her younger sister Lim Sang-min has more dominance in the company and would succeed their father Daesang Chairman Lim Chang-wook.
As per reports, the sales revenue of Daesang Corporation amounted to about 3.47 trillion South Korean won (approximately 2.5 billion USD) in 2021 which easily makes her a multi-millionaire as she became the Vice Chairwoman of the company in 2021 and was appointed as the board member of the company.
