If reports are to be believed, long-time lovers Nelly and Ashanti are expecting a baby together, and their bundle of joy would be sharing a massive age difference with the rapper’s adult kids.
The on-again and off-again couple is said to have rekindled their romance earlier this year, and a source now tells US Weekly that they are “welcoming their first baby together.” Although Ashanti would be becoming a mother for the first time, Nelly is a father to two children from his previous relationship with his former girlfriend, Channetta Valentine.
The ages of Nelly’s biological kids revealed
Nelly and Channeta share two children – Chanelle, 29, and Cornell Haynes III, 24.
Not much is known about Channelle and Cornell as they appear to live a private life. However, the rapper occasionally posts pictures of his kids on social media.
In addition to the two biological children with his ex, Nelly has also adopted his sister Jackie’s two children – a daughter and a son – after her passing in 2005.
Including his first child with Ashanti, if the rumors are true, Nelly would be the proud father of five children. And, his newborn would be sharing an age gap of more than two decades with his two kids from his previous relationship.
Ashanti is reportedly pregnant with Nelly’s child
Before the source told US Weekly that the couple was expecting their first child together, they had hinted the same during Nelly’s Black and White Ball in St. Louis when Ashanti placed her hand on her stomach, seemingly implying there was a bun in her oven, imitated by her beau too.
The couple made their relationship official in 2023 after a decade of dating on and off. While they haven’t shied away from showing their love for each other, Nelly had also suggested that he and his lady had the thought of expanding their family in mind.
When one fan wrote under one of Nelly’s posts that he should get Ashanti pregnant, the rapper replied: “I’m on it.”
However, neither Nelly nor Ashanti have confirmed the news about expecting a baby together.
Ashanti and Nelly getting back together was fans’ biggest dream
Nelly and Ashanti have grown to become the quintessential Hollywood couple, and fans have been hoping for the longest time to see them together.
Exactly a year ago, their joint performance of Body on Me during the Under The Mistletoe concert raised eyebrows as fans speculated they were back together upon witnessing the chemistry they shared.
Nelly and Ashanti reportedly met at a Grammy Awards press conference in 2003 and soon, rumors that the two had fallen for each other began to fly.
Years later, in an interview with PEOPLE in 2008, Nelly confirmed that he and Ashanti were serious. The relationship, however, came to an end, five years later, in 2013.
