Two separate shooting incidents that occurred early on Friday morning in South Bend has resulted in the death of a man.

Officials from the South Bend Police Department have stated that they arrived at both locations at approximately the same time, which was 2:24 in the morning. The first location the police responded to was a BP gas station at the intersection of McKinley Avenue and Hickory Road, when they received reports of shots being fired. The second location was near the intersection of N. Ironwood Road and Eugene Street, where they found the victim.

It was determined that the victim, Carl Shelton, who was fifty years old and from South Bend, was transported to the hospital, where he ultimately passed away. The reason that the police believe the two incidents are connected has not been articulated. The autopsy on Shelton is set to take place on Saturday, November 25.

None of the suspects have been identified as of yet.

The inquiry is being handled by the section of the South Bend Police Department that deals with violent crimes.
