Dean LeMire of Dover, New Hampshire, has passed away unexpectedly, family and friends announced via social media post on Thursday, September 21.

Dean was a trainer, leader, and builder for substance use services and health systems development. He assisted organizations and communities in developing needed resources and competencies.

Dean was a man that lead with his heart and held compassion for every soul he touched. He taught many of us the true meaning of unconditional love through his work, but most importantly to him his children. It did not matter if you meet Dean as a trainer or as a friend he was the person you knew would answer the phone and be there if you needed.

Dean LeMire is a mentor for me and when I say mentor I mean I followed him around, never ceasing talking and asking him a million questions, aggressively volunteering at SOS until he gave me a scholarship for the classes to become a CRSW. I was like in recovery for less than a year and I wanted to be just like him. I had motivation, a love for writing, super human empathy, excitement that bubbled over and this drive that was common to someone in early recovery where you want to save the world.
