Ed Walsh Jr. Obituary – Motorcycle Accident: Dowagiac man killed in motorcycle crash near Niles, Michigan.
A man who died in a motorcycle crash near Niles early Monday morning is now identified as 43-year-old Ed Walsh Jr. of Dowagiac.
In the early hours of the morning, Michigan State Police were alerted to a crash incident by an iPhone on M-51 near Maple Lane in Howard Township, which is located to the north of Niles.
According to investigators, the motorcyclist was reportedly travelling in a northbound direction on M-51 towards Dowagiac when, unfortunately, he veered off the roadway. As a result, he lost control of the motorcycle, collided with an embankment, and was subsequently ejected from the vehicle.
Walsh was pronounced dead at the scene.
Walsh leaves behind his wife and 3 children.
“Life will never be the same again. 16 years of the greatest life together. Still unreal that I’m posting this as I’m waiting and wanting you to come home. Please say a prayer for my family and Ed’s family, and mostly my kids,” Ed’s wife wrote in a social media post.
According to state police, the motorcyclist was reportedly not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. It remains unclear whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the incident.
The cause of the crash remains unknown, as investigation into the crash is ongoing.
