Fastest 1000 runs in ODI Batting Records Players

A One Day International (ODI) is a form of cricket with international status.  It is played with a fixed number of overs of 50 for a 9 hours of time span. This game was started in the late-twentieth-century. The first ODI match to be played in ODI was played on January 5, 1971. It was played between Australia and England at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

In One-Day international cricket, Sachin Tendulkar is the top run scorer and century maker, with a total of 18,426.

In this article, we have listed the players who have scored the fastest 1000 runs in ODI. 

1. Fakhar Zaman – Pakistan

Fakhar Zaman was born on 10 April 1990 (age 33) in Mardan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. He became the fastest batsman to score 1,000 runs in ODIs in 2018. He also played at the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy. In the ODI against Zimbabwe, he became the first batsman for Pakistan to score a double century in ODIs (2018).

2. Imam-ul-Haq – Pakistan

Imam-ul-Haq was born on December 22, 1995 (age 27) in Multan, Punjab, Pakistan.  He comes on the player list, scoring the fastest ODI 1000 runs. He played his first One international (ODI) against Sri Lanka and became the second batter for Pakistan to score a century on his debut. Pakistan batsman Imam ul Haq has become the second fastest batsman to reach 1000 One Day International (ODI) in 19 innings. 

3. Shubman Gill – India

Shubman Gill was born on 1999 (age 24) in Fazilka, Punjab, India

He comes on the player list, scoring the fastest ODI 1000 runs. Shubman Gill  also became the fastest Indian player to complete 1000 ODI runs. He also played for the Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League and Punjab in domestic cricket.

4. IVA Richards – West Indies

IVA Richards, or Isaac Vivian Alexander Richards, was born on March 7, 1952 (age 71) in St. John’s, British Leeward Islands. He was a cricket player for the West Indies cricket team between 1974 and 1991. He comes on the player list, scoring the fastest ODI 1000 runs. In the history of ODI cricket, Richards was the first player to accomplish the double of hitting 1000 runs and claiming 50 wickets.

5. KP Pietersen – England

KP Pietersen was born on June 27, 1980 (age 43) in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. 

He comes on the player list, scoring the fastest to reach 1000 runs in ODI in just 21 innings, – equalling Viv Richards’ record. He played for England between 2005 and 2014. He has also been recorded as the fastest player to cross 2,000 runs in One international cricket. 

6. IJL Trott- Jonathan Trott – England

Jonathan Trott was born on April 22, 1981 (age 42) in Cape Town, Cape Province, South Africa. He comes on the player list, scoring the fastest to reach 1000 runs in ODI. He became the fastest player to reach 1000 runs in ODIs by achieving it in 21 matches. He was also named ICC and ECB Cricketer of the Year in 2011

7. Quinton de Kock – South Africa

Quinton de Kock was born on December 17, 1992 (age 30) in Johannesburg, Transvaal, South Africa. He comes on the player list, scoring the fastest to score 1000 runs in odi. He surpassed Viv Richards, Jonathan Trott, and Kevin Pietersen to become the joint fastest batsman to reach 1000 runs in ODI cricket. He was also referred to as Cricketer of the Year at Cricket South Africa’s 2017 Annual Awards. 

8. Babar Azam – Pakistan

Babar Azam was born on October 15, 1994 (age 29) in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. He comes on the player list, scoring the fastest ODI 1000 runs. Azam became the joint fastest player to reach 1,000 runs in an ODI against Australia in his third game, and in his 21st inning, he became the fastest player for Pakistan. He is a Pakistani international cricketer and captain of the Pakistan national cricket team. He is also ranked as the number one batter in ODIs, third in T20Is and fourth in Tests.

9. Rassie van der Dussen – South Africa

Rassie van der Dussen was born on February 7, 1989 (age 34) in Pretoria, Transvaal, South Africa. He comes on the player list, scoring the fastest 1000 runs in odi. He was also called ‘one of the five cricketers of the Year’- in the 2018 South African Cricket Annual. He also won the ICC Men’s ODI Team of the Year for the year 2021.

10. CG Greenidge – West Indies

CG Greenidge was born on May 1, 1951 (age 72) in St. Peter, Barbado. He comes on the player list, scoring the fastest 1000 in odi. He played in the West Indies in Test and one-day cricket for 17 years. Many experts say that he is often regarded as the greatest and most destructive opening batsman.
