Gary Langston Obituary Sunbury: Victim identified in fatal ‘fit of rage’ shooting at Sunbury Wendy’s.
The victim of a fatal shooting at a fast food restaurant in Sunbury has been identified, and the detained suspect is about to go to court.
The incident on Thursday, December 14 that resulted in the lockdown of surrounding schools claimed the life of Gary Langston, 58, the Delaware County Coroner’s Office revealed on Thursday.
At 2:21 p.m., Delaware County deputies and Sunbury police responded to a report of an altercation that resulted in a shooting at Wendy’s, located at 88 N. Miller Drive. They discovered Langston in the parking lot, bleeding from a gunshot wound. He was declared dead at the scene by emergency personnel, and according to the Ohio Bureau of Investigation, the Sunbury Police Department called its Crime Scene Unit for processing help.
Marshle Graham, 42, the shooting suspect, turned himself in at a different location, according to a statement released by Sunbury police on Friday. Graham is charged with felony voluntary manslaughter, according to documents from the Delaware County Common Pleas Court. In a criminal complaint form, a detective stated that Graham had shot Langston “in a sudden fit of rage” with a Ruger.380 handgun.
On December 19, Graham was released from the Delaware County Jail after posting a $35,000 cash surety bond. However, the judge overseeing his case also placed the defendant under house arrest. According to court documents, he would also need to temporarily wear an electronic GPS monitor.
Graham’s preliminary hearing in Delaware County Common Pleas Court is set for this Thursday at 3 p.m. But according to the documents, it would be canceled if he was charged. As of Wednesday, there was no entry for an indictment on the court’s website.
