George C. Freeman, III., is Chairman of the Board, President, Chief Executive Officer of the Company. Previously, Mr. G. Freeman served as Universal’s General Counsel and Secretary from February 2001 until November 2005, and was elected Vice President in November 2005. Prior to joining Universal, Mr. G. Freeman served as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard S. Arnold, Circuit Judge, United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit; a law clerk for the Honorable Lewis F. Powell, Jr., Associate Justice, United States Supreme Court; and an associate with Hunton Andrews Kurth (formerly Hunton & Williams), an international law firm. Mr. G. Freeman is a director of Tredegar Corporation, a manufacturer of plastic films and aluminum extrusions, since May 2011 and serves as chair of its Executive Compensation Committee and is a member of its Nominating and Governance Committee. He is also a director of the Mutual Assurance Society of Virginia, a private mutual assessment property & casualty insurance company, since 2013 and serves as Chair of the Governance Committee, and as a member of its Executive Committee and Investment Committee.
