In Northampton, Massachusetts, on January 1, 1978, Joanne “Jo” Ringer was born. She pursued a variety of jobs after finishing school, including bartending and modeling for auto shows. The 39-year-old was passionate about motorcycles and enjoyed scrapbooking. She also liked baking and playing video games. Savanah, Jo’s daughter who was then a teenager, had a devoted mother in her. Until the incident, she had been experiencing good luck. In Easthampton, Massachusetts, she was hired by a transport business, and she eagerly anticipated her first day on the job.
On March 2, 2017, when she was with Charles “Chad” Reidy at their house, Jo was last seen by anyone. Jo was scheduled to leave that evening for her first day of work as a taxi driver. But on March 3, when Chad got home from his overnight shift, Jo was nowhere to be found. He searched everywhere for her before filing a missing person’s report on March 4, 2017. Her skeletal remains weren’t located in Hatfield, Massachusetts, until almost a year later. Dental records were used to identify Jo, but due to the condition of the remains, a cause of death could not be determined.

When Chad and Jo first met in 2015, their shared love of Volkswagen cars made them click right away. In December 2016, they got hitched. They had just purchased a house in Clarksburg, where they were residing at the time of the tragedy. The two owned a large number of animals and intended to buy cattle in the future. When Jo received a call and left to see someone on March 2, 2017, Chad informed the police that they were having breakfast together. Chad continued, “Jo wasn’t home when I got back about 1 p.m. after going out with some buddies.”
When Chad called the transport business Jo was supposed to start working for on March 3, 2017, he was informed that she had not arrived. He believed he had to wait 24 hours before calling the police, so he reported her missing the next day. Although Jo’s automobile was discovered abandoned on March 6, 2017, it didn’t offer any new information about her whereabouts. Although Chad gave the impression that they were a happy pair, loved ones weren’t so sure. There were several problems in their relationship in the period before Jo vanished.
The two’s text texts to one another and Jo’s replies to her pals revealed the turbulence in their relationship. Jo and Chad frequently quarreled and called each other names. Jo hinted at Chad’s alleged history of verbal and physical abuse in several of her communications, calling him “shady” and a “degrading jerk” in addition. Before the wedding in November 2016, Jo said on Facebook to a friend, “There is no comforting my pain. I’m just sitting here in the dark and trying to figure out how to soothe myself. I’m currently dying everywhere but physically.
Just a few days later, Jo reported that things were getting worse at home since Chad was allegedly threatening to kill the animals they owned. Jo claimed that Chad had broken her gaming system, and she felt unsafe around him. In spite of everything, she wed him in December 2016. Days after their wedding, Chad is accused of beating Jo and choking her with a revolver until she passed out. Jo also disclosed to friends that Chad would be the one to blame if something were to happen to her. Jo appeared to be looking for a method to end the union.
In an effort to uncover information, the authorities installed a tracking device on Chad’s car. But his travels appeared sporadic. Chad traveled from Clarksburg to Stamford, Vermont, on March 28, 2017, but he only stayed there for five minutes before heading back to Clarksburg. He also once fastened a trailer hitch on his vehicle. The police thought he may have used that to transport Jo’s body to a distant location. The detectives also discovered that Chad deleted numerous texts between him and Jo from his phone and Facebook. They also thought he covered up the incident by using a different phone.
Chad began enquiring about Jo’s car during the initial polygraph examination, which raised red flags. Later, the authorities discovered that Jo’s automobile was discovered five minutes from Laura Reilly, Chad’s ex-girlfriend. Later, she was found guilty of lying to the police. According to accounts, she was aware that Jo was missing when Chad instructed her to make up a story. On March 2, Laura claimed to have received a text from Chad requesting her to meet up in Northampton. She continued by saying that they took separate cars to his house. Chad Reidy’s Cause of Death

However, Chad was unable to provide them with any further information because on April 7, 2017, when they went to the house to check on him, they discovered his body in the garage. Chad committed suicide, and the cause of death was carbon monoxide asphyxiation. Jo Ringer and Chad Reidy were married for about two months before Reidy learned that his wife was missing. Without success, he drove all throughout Clarksburg, Massachusetts, where they lived. He reported her missing to the police the following day, on March 4.
As authorities started looking into Ringer’s disappearance, they discovered that her marriage to Reidy wasn’t quite the picture of marital joy. Investigators discovered Reidy had said to a friend, “If something ever happens to me, don’t underestimate Chad — because it was definitely him,” after speaking to friends and family.
In preparation of a lie detector exam, Reidy was discovered dead on April 7 after an apparent suicide. Reidy’s body was discovered in his garage
The Berkshire District Attorney’s office said in a statement Friday night that “based on the circumstances revealed at the site, investigators believe Reidy took his own life.”

Reidy asserted in that interview that he thought he was the last person to see Ringer alive before she vanished.
The night Ringer vanished, she was supposed to begin her first shift as a taxi driver in Easthampton.
On March 6, her abandoned automobile was discovered in Easthampton.
Reidy claimed in his interview that the last time he saw his wife was the day she vanished. When Ringer received a call and left the house to visit someone, they had just done their morning tasks and breakfast, according to Reidy. Around 1 p.m., Reidy left the house to see friends in Worthington, and when he came back, he reported that Ringer wasn’t there. Her family reported that she could only be reached when connected to WiFi since her phone provider had terminated her telephone service due to an outstanding bill she had challenged.
Reidy claimed that he worriedly called Ringer and left her voicemails when she didn’t return home. When he finally drove to Easthampton to seek for her, he discovered that she had never reported for work. He reported her missing to police the following day.
The DA’s office made no mention of whether Reidy was thought to be a suspect in the disappearance of his wife.
Three weeks after her mother was reported missing, The Eagle interviewed Ringer’s 19-year-old daughter Savanah.
Savanah Ringer noted that her mother’s prolonged absence from her family and friends was out of character for her and that she was positive and excited to start her new work after a period of unemployment.\”She constantly stays in touch, and if she disappears, it’s only for one or two nights to visit a friend or do something else. She always alerts someone to her whereabouts. She communicates often with her friends, “said Savanah Ringer.
She claimed to have spoken to her mother just two days prior to her disappearance.
When contacted by phone Friday night, Savanah Ringer stated that she didn’t know any more information at that time than what the police had already disclosed and that she first learned of Reidy’s passing around 6 p.m.
Since Ringer vanished, a Facebook page has been created where individuals may post and contribute information, and the NGO Halos Investigations has joined the investigation and is obtaining information via an anonymous hotline.

The Berkshire Eagle reports that Reilly’s account of where he was on the day of Ringer’s disappearance differs from Reidy’s cell phone records of his location. Later, he deleted several texts from both his Facebook account and phone.
According to police reports in court documents, Reidy used this phone in the hours after Ringer vanished, and there is probable cause that it was used to cover up her murder. It is likely that this phone will include data, which might be extremely helpful to the inquiry if detectives can find it.
On March 6, Ringer’s automobile was discovered not far from Reilly’s house.
