I do not see how Facebook would send a reset code to your new phone number as it was never registered with Fb as you must first prove your identity.

I suggest you use your email account registered with Facebook to request a reset code.

Prior to mid-2020, before Facebook disabled this feature, these were the steps you took to link Facebook to Twitter. Again, they have since removed this feature, so these instructions are no longer valid. We are keeping them here for archival purposes, and in case they reactivate one day.

Go to and click on the “link to Twitter” button. You can connect your personal profile (at the top) and/or any of your Facebook pages, all from this page.

You must log in to the Twitter account you are trying to link.

Google over the years, has had several messaging applications, like Google Talk and Google Voice. Some of them have been praised by users ever since their launch for being more than functional. But then, came Hangouts; a new messaging service that at first sight, showed great potential, the application had some amazing features planned for it, some of which included notification sync across all platforms, videoconferences up to ten people, and SMS support; there was nothing that this new app, Google presented as the “future of messaging”, was missing. Now, it seems the internet giant is not so sure about Hangouts functionality, as Google itself recommends that users planning to make use of the new Project Fi network service, switch to Messenger for their SMS needs.

Back when Hangouts was released almost two years ago, users quickly began to experience numerous issues with the application; the first being notification sync (Hangout’s main feature) not working properly, followed by SMS support being poorly implemented, among other major problems. Google then quietly rolled out yet another messaging application, simply named, Messenger. At first, many users were confused as to why would Google develop an app that would further segregate their own messaging services; Hangouts was still the service that Google recommended their users to utilize, for the company, it was still the “future of messaging”. That was until Google’s new hybrid network, Project Fi, was announced.

Inside Project Fi’s support page, there is a section named “Using Hangouts with Project Fi” which states that while Hangouts is fine for calls, it is still underdeveloped for use with SMS and MMS, “For now, we recommend using Messenger as the default SMS app. There are a few features, like group messaging, that aren’t supported in Hangouts yet”. This is the first time that Google seems to address one of the issues surrounding Hangouts and advises to better use another app of their own. Messenger manages to be an extremely functional app for everything that has to do with SMS and MMS, after all, that’s its main purpose. Google’s own Messenger is without a doubt, updated in a more regular basis than Hangouts, which has led some users to believe that the Hangouts app is heading towards a major update sometime in the future, maybe fixing every issue that users have been suffering from since launch day and adding up every feature that Messenger has implemented.

Install Authy

The best way to manage all your 2FA accounts is to use the Authy app. It enables you to have a single mobile app for all your 2FA accounts and you can sync them across multiple devices, even accessing them on the desktop. Install Authy on your device by searching for it in your device’s app store.

Important: If any sites prompt you to use Google Authenticator for two-factor authentication, note that you can always substitute the Authy 2FA app instead. Although they work in similar ways, Authy is more feature-rich and allows for multi-device syncing, cloud-backups, and easier account recovery should you change or lose your phone or device. Locate 2FA

When logged into your Google or Gmail account, click on your account icon at the top right of the screen. Then click “Manage your Google Account.”

In the next window, click “Security” in the top navigation. Then click on “2-Step Verification” on the next page.

The next pop-up will detail how the added security of 2FA works. After reading, click “Get Started.”

On the next pop-up, you will need to renter your Google password. When done, click “Next.”

On the next screen, Google asks you to set up your phone. Choose your country, and enter your phone number. You can then opt to receive a verification code via text or phone call. Make your choice and then click “Next.”

You will then receive a code via SMS, enter it into the field on the next screen and click “Next.”

Now that you have been verified, you can set up your Authy 2FA authenicator app. On the next screen, click “Set Up.”

Also – This is a good example of how other sites will prompt you to use Google Authenticator for two-factor authentication. While it makes sense that Google would want to promote their own app, but remember that you can always substitute the Authy 2FA app instead.

Enable 2FA

First, choose the type of device you are authenticating with. Then click “Next.”

You will now be presented with a QR code which you will need to capture with your Authy app. Keep this window open as you reach for your Authy-enabled device.

To capture the QR code, launch Authy on your device. Click ‘Add Account’ at the bottom of the screen. You’ll be prompted to hold your phone up to your computer to ‘Scan QR Code’ and capture the QR code provided by Google.

Once the QR code is captured, Authy will display your Google account with the appropriate icon. If you desire you can also change the logo or the nickname you give the account right on the Authy app. When ready, click ‘Save’.

Then return to the computer screen and click “Next” below the Google QR code.

Finish Setup

The next screen will show an entry field. Return to your Authy app still opened to your Google 2FA account, and take note of the 6-digit code provided. Enter this code in the field and then click “Verify.”

You now have 2FA enabled for your Google and Gmail account. From now on, you will need to use the Authy app when you login.

The site gradually added support for other universities, before also becoming available to high school students. In September 2006, it became available to any users over 13. Twitter was founded on March 21st 2006 by Jack Dorsey and was launched on July 5th 2006. Twitter tends to be fairly secretive about its number of users, but it had explosive growth between 2009 and 2011, with 2 million tweets a day in January 2009, 32 million tweets a day in January 2010, 90 million tweets a day in September 2010 and 200 million tweets a day in July 2011.

Facebook is used by members for a variety of purposes. It is mainly used by individuals who wish to stay connected with, or reconnect with, people that they know offline. As well as maintaining a personal profile and posting messages on their “wall,” users can upload photo albums and videos, share links, write long notes, send private messages to friends, text and video chat, and play games.

Twitter allows users to post 140 character messages, or tweets, and follow the messages of other users on their Twitter feed. It is mainly used to communicate with other individuals with similar interests, regardless of whether users know one another off Twitter, and to follow updates from celebrities. Users can upload photos, share links and send private messages to people they follow.

Privacy

Facebook allows users to select from various privacy settings, from a completely visible profile to one that is not even searchable except by acknowledged friends. Users can change the privacy setting on each individual post, from public, friends only, private, or “custom.”

Twitter has two privacy settings: public and private. Private messages can only be read by people that are followed by the user. Individual messages cannot have different privacy settings.

Advertising

Facebook features ads. These adverts are often catered to the user, based on the preferences expressed in their profile. Facebook sells user info that has been uploaded to the profile to other corporations.

Twitter does not feature ads. Twitter may sell user information to other corporations.

Integration

Twitter and Facebook can be integrated. Tweets can be posted to Facebook automatically using the Twitter app.

Many other websites can be integrated with Facebook, including GoodReads and WordPress. Facebook can also be integrated into other websites, and Facebook login details can be used to access some other sites.

Twitter widgets can be added to a website or blog and can be integrated with Instagram. Some websites allow users to sign in using Twitter.

Financial History

Facebook received a $500,000 angel investment from Peter Thiel in 2004. In April 2005, Accel Partners made a $12.7 million venture capital investment, after which Facebook was valued at $98 million. Facebook also received $27.5 million in funding from various investors in 2006, leading to a value of around $500 million. In 2007, Microsoft purchased a 1.6% share for $240 million, leading to a total implied value of $15 billion. Facebook is currently valued at $104 billion.

Twitter was originally developed by the podcasting company Odeo. It has raised over $155 million in venture capital since 2006. Its third round of funding, in February 2009, raised $35 million, while in October 2009 the private-equity firm Insight Venture Partners invested $100 million in the site. In 2011, Twitter was valued at around $10 billion.

Controversies

Facebook has been involved in several controversies, particularly involving privacy concerns. Facebook prevented users from permanently deleting their accounts until 2010 and has been criticized for changing user’s privacy settings, making more information publically visible or available to data mining, without their explicit consent. The site has been repeatedly criticized for removing photos uploaded by breastfeeding mothers and deleting their accounts.

The company Twitter has not been involved in any major controversies itself, but the site has been the focus of several legal cases recently. In July 2012, a British teenager was arrested after sending abusive tweets to Olympic diver Tom Daley, and earlier in 2012, a student was jailed for inciting racial hatred after tweeting abuse at Fabrice Muamba.
