James Merchant Death News: A Wednesday morning shooting on the north side of Youngstown claimed the life of the Mahoning County Coroner. James Merchant, a 28-year-old man, was the victim’s name.
At a residence in the 900 Block of Alameda Avenue, a gunshot took place. Police were called to the neighborhood after hearing about a shooting.
Authorities found the Merchant’s body in the SUV’s driver’s seat when they arrived. He was recognized as having passed away on the spot. The incident is currently being investigated as a homicide. At this time, there are no suspects on the police’s mind.
What Happened at Youngstown’s North Side
The identity of a man killed in an alleged homicide on Youngstown’s north side on Wednesday morning has been made public by the Mahoning County Coroner.
James Merchant, who was the male victim, was recognized as being 28 years old by the Mahoning County Coroner’s Office.
Around 9:00 a.m., several police cruisers and an ambulance were on the scene at a residence in the 900 Block of Alameda Avenue looking into the gunshot death of a male victim.
Police were called to the house in response to gunshots, according to a YPD press statement. When they arrived, authorities discovered the Merchant’s body in the SUV’s driver’s seat. At the scene, he was identified as deceased.
According to Lieutenant Mohammed Awad of 21 News, the incident was first looked into as a suicide. The incident is now being investigated as a homicide because the wounds on Merchant’s body did not appear to have been self-inflicted when the coroner got on the scene and examined them.
According to Awad, the police do not currently have any suspects in mind.
