Jessica Chastain finally concludes the Evelyn Hugo rumors for good. Some fans won’t be too happy that Jessica Chastain put the rumors about her leading part in the planned Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo to bed.

Even though fans have been clamoring for her to play Celia St. James in Taylor Jenkins Reid’s The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, which is being adapted for Netflix, the actress has made it pretty clear that she won’t be playing the role.

She even stated that there is “zero possibility” that she will portray the fictitious movie star.

What did Jessica Chastain have to say about Evelyn Hugo?

Jessica said in an exclusive interview with Francesca Amiker of E! News, “I love how excited the fans are. Every day that I worked on Broadway, they would be outside with the books when I signed them. I simply like that fan base’s wonderfulness.”

She continued, “I look forward to watching it and I’m sorry to disappoint everyone out there!”

Though she put an end to rumors, Jessica, who is acting with Peter Sarsgaard in the upcoming movie Memory, expressed interest in playing the rival turned confidante of the title character in the Evelyn Hugo adaptation in the past.

Why did Jessica Chastain refuse to sign the Evelyn Hugo books?

Jessica clarified her role in the movie even further when she explained why she wouldn’t autograph book copies for fans who saw her perform on Broadway in A Doll’s House.

The 46-year-old stated in April, “I’ve been asked multiple times by fans to sign books that I’m not attached to contractually. I could claim I can’t sign because I’m not doing it because it feels wrong and that I’m stealing credit for someone else’s labor.”

The film will be directed by Leslye Headland, who also co-created and produced Russian Doll for Netflix.

In addition, the project’s writer, Liz Tigelaar, who has experience translating best-selling books like Little Fires Everywhere and Tiny Beautiful Things, is joining the team.
