The Jujutsu Kaisen manga takes a short break as highly-anticipated chapter 239 delays its domestic and international release.
It’s time for everyone to take a step back and take a breather: The next chapter of the Jujutsu Kaisen, 239, will be delayed from its typical release cycle as the series takes a short break before the battle against Sukuna resumes.
Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 239 release date delayed by one week
Following the near-constant trending on social media for the past few weeks, the Jujutsu Kaisen manga series will be taking a brief break this week, with chapter 239 being delayed for its domestic and international distribution.
A specific reason for the delay has not been revealed, but the break does give author Gege Akutami and their team ample time to relax after a seriously hectic recent run – both physical and mental health remains an important topic in the manga industry.
Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 239 is now scheduled to release for both readers in Japan and those following worldwide on Sunday, October 22.
The new chapter will be made available to read online via platforms including Viz Media and Manga Plus from the following international times:
- Pacific Time – 8 AM
- Eastern Time – 11 AM
- British Time – 4 PM
- European Time – 5 PM
- India Time – 8:30 PM
- Philippine Time – 11 PM
Access to digital platforms is free for the first and most recent three chapters; after which a subscription of $2.99 a month will be required to read new content.
Jujutsu Kaisen will be going on break next week and returns with JJK 239 in Weekly Shonen Jump issue #47 on October 23rd

What to expect from Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 239
The hype surrounding the release of Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 239 has been focused on the upcoming tag-team battle between Hiromi and Yuji vs Sukuna.
The former defence attorney Hiromi Higuruma once faced Yuji in the Culling Game Arc, but now stands side-by-side with our protagonist in the battle against the strongest warrior left alive.
Unfortunately, if the recent inclusion of characters in fights vs Sukuna is anything to go by, chapter 239 might be the last time we see Hiromi alive in the series.
However, the tag-team might also have a new advantage in their fight vs Sukuna in the form of Yuji’s awakening powers. In the last chapter, 238, Yuji appeared to have the elongated, sharpened nails that are typically only present when Sukuna takes control of his body.
This subtle inclusion teases that Yuji is slowly but surely starting to gain access to Sukuna’s cursed techniques – something that has been hinted at for quite some time.
The hope for many fans is that this means Yuji will now have a power level almost equal to Sukuna, giving our heroes a much-needed advantage against him.
Another aspect of the Jujutsu Kaisen series that might be explored further in chapter 239 is the grief that many of the characters have so far, failed to show for their fallen comrades.
In a rather unusual situation, not many of the characters have shown an emotional response to the death of Gojo which is surprising considering the impact that he has had on many of them.
Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 is airing new episodes every week on Crunchyroll.
