Deputi Gubernur Bank Indonesia (BI) Dody Budi Waluyo mengatakan, pelemahan rupiah selama 2-3 hari terakhir hingga pagi ini disebabkan oleh faktor regional.
Dia melihat, rupiah menjadi salah satu mata uang paling terpuruk di kawasan akibat masalah-masalah yang muncul di domestik.
"Misalnya ada second wave (gelombang kedua) Covid-19, kemudian ada isu beredar dari Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat (DPR) tentang burden sharing (bagi-bagi beban) berakibat rupiah sampai pagi ini tertekan," kata Dody dala konferensi video, Jumat (3/7/2020).
Dody menuturkan, pelemahan nilai tukar mencapai level Rp 14.500 harus dilakukan stabilisasi secara tepat oleh Bank Indonesia (BI). Namun secara fundamental, rupiah masih undervalued.
Sementara itu, indeks volatilitas (Volatility Index/VIX) berada pada level yang masih relatif tinggi, yakni level 34 dibanding sebelum Covid-19 yakni di level 19.
"Ini artinya masih menggambarkan risiko itu masih ada, tapi sedikit melandai. Kalau kita lihat, cash is the king masih ada walau tidak sebesar bulan Maret," ucap Dody.
Berita baiknya, cadangan devisa RI sudah meninggi berada di atas 130 miliar dollar AS. Jika diperlukan, Bank Indonesia masih memiliki bantalan untuk term repo kepada The Fed.
"Seperti kita tahu semua negara mencari repo line dengan negara-negara maju," pungkasnya.
