It was announced last month that MultiVersus would be taken offline pretty soon in preparation for a relaunch later in early 2024. The fanbase isn’t all too happy claiming that the game is dying. Users spammed skull emojis in the MultiVersus discord server because MultiVersus has been removed from stores…
MultiVersus Removed From Store Fronts
The news was revealed in the discord server post by Community Manager Cory Taylor that MultiVersus has been removed from all store fronts. Players cannot get their hands on the premium currency, Gleamium either.
But there’s a silver lining to all of this. You can still play online modes for the title until June 25 when the game permanently goes offline in preparation for the relaunch.
“MVPs, as of now, #MultiVersus is no longer downloadable for new players and has been temporarily removed from storefronts, along with Gleamium. You can play online modes until June 25 before the game goes offline in preparation for launch.” – MultiVersus Twitter
Afterward, all online modes will become unavailable with limited player access to local matches and the training room. Warner Bros mentioned that any cosmetic items bought during the beta test will be transferred to the game when it launches in early 2024.
But why is the game being taken offline? According to Player First Games co-founder and game director Tony Huynh, there’s “still a lot of work to do”. The team is specifically working on “the content cadence of new characters, maps, and modes to give you more ways to enjoy the game, along with updated net code and more matchmaking improvements.”
The Multiversus beta launched back in July 2022 and continued for nearly a year. The game had a peak concurrent player count of 143,000 players on Steam on day one.
