NHK has revealed the lineup for its latest serialized TV novel, Anpanman, marking the newest addition to its renowned Renzoku Terebi Shōsetsu franchise, also known as “Asadora” or Morning Drama. Inspired by the remarkable life of Takashi Yanase, creator of the beloved character Anpanman, the upcoming live-action weekday morning series promises to enthrall audiences with its heartfelt narrative.

Leading the cast is Takumi Kitamura, known for his roles in the live-action Tokyo Revengers films and the Yu Yu Hakusho Netflix series, who will portray the young Takashi Yanase. Joining him is Mio Imada, acclaimed for her performance in live-action Tokyo Revengers, taking on the role of Nobu Asada. Together, they will bring to life the formative years of Takashi and Nobu, chronicling their journey from childhood to the inception of Anpanman.

Behind the scenes, Miho Nakazono will craft the series’ script, while Ken Kurasaki takes on the role of chief producer, ensuring a compelling portrayal of Yanase’s life and legacy.
