Mrs Currie said the affair ran from 1984, when Mr Major was a Government whip, to 1988 when he was promoted to Chief Secretary-In a newspaper interview to promote her diaries, she claimed she, not Mr Major, ended the relationship but, paradoxically, said she remained in love with him for several more years.
