Season 5 of If Loving You Is Wrong may have only just concluded with an epic finale, but fans are already wondering if and when the series will return.
If Loving You Is Wrong has been a flagship series of the Oprah Winfrey Network ever since its premiere back in 2014.
The soap opera has had its fair share of ups and downs, both in the storyline and ratings, but now has come to an end with an epic finale.
Season 5 may have only just come to a thrilling conclusion, but fans are already looking ahead towards the next instalment.

If Loving You Is Wrong season 6: Renewal status
At the time of writing, If Loving You Is Wrong will not return for season 6.
Fans of the series will be devastated by the news that this fifth season may be the last, but many are satisfied with the journey the show has taken them on.

Just as OWN said months ago, viewers were able to get “some long-awaited answers to viewers’ burning questions” and saw “life-changing catastrophes that will leave the town reeling and changed forever.”
However, we should never say never when it comes to soap operas, especially ones with such a consistent viewer base as If Loving You Is Wrong. If the show doesn’t return on OWN, there is a slim chance that the series could be picked up by another network – although we highly doubt this would happen without Tyler Perry at the helm.

If Loving You Is Wrong season 6: Release date
With the show seemingly at its natural end, there is no information as to when fans could expect a season 6 if the show was renewed.
Based on the schedule of previous seasons, a sixth instalment could premiere as soon as March 2021. Although considering the delays to production caused by the coronavirus pandemic, a more realistic prediction would be September 2021.
However, this is all dependent on the series being picked up for another season and it doesn’t seem likely that the show creator Tyler Perry would be available. Perry is currently working on several shows including Bruh, Ruthless, House of Payne and Tyler Perry’s Young Dylan.

If Loving You Is Wrong season 6: Plot
If the show is renewed for season 6, we honestly have no clue where the storyline could go. Season 5 wrapped up most of the plotlines quite nicely, so is there any point in restarting old arcs?
However, if there is a sixth instalment on the way, it would most likely deal with the fallout from the season 5 finale and Eddie’s poor decision.

Alternatively, the plot could go the spin-off route, either following one character in the events following season 5 or with a new cast of characters (although we highly doubt that they would do this).
