Today (August 2nd) is National Boob Day. Although not many knew about the significance of this day, a post shared by PETA on Twitter to mark the occasion seems to have annoyed a few people.
The animal rights organization decided to use National Boob Day to remind people that the milk we consume comes from cows. However, the post, which was intended to bring awareness, has now become subject to some serious criticism.
PETA’s controversial tweets explored
PETA shared a cartoon of a man consuming milk from a cow’s udder and captioned it: “Are you drinking from a cow’s boobs this #NationalBoobDay?”
In another tweet, the organization wrote: “Now that we have your attention: the dairy industry doesn’t want you to watch this, but cows are literally dying for you to see it. #DitchDairy”
Twitter users didn’t take long to react to PETA’s post, which many felt was disturbing. However, PETA continued to support its original tweet with a few more, trying to shed light on the reality of the dairy and meat industry.
PETA’s following tweet read: “Reminder: Cows need to have babies in order to produce milk. Just like human mothers, the milk they make is for their babies.”
Although many have criticized PETA for sharing distressing videos of animals being mistreated on the occasion of National Boob Day, it is the animated picture and the caption accompanying it that’s drawn extreme criticism.

PETA’s post sparks fury
Folks on Twitter believe PETA could have conveyed their message in a much better way. Their decision to go with the graphical image has clearly annoyed a few users, who were quick to voice their criticism.
One wrote, “PETA down horrendous”; while another tweeted: “I wouldn’t be surprised if a significant number of people considered going vegan but then chose to remain meat-eaters after seeing a PETA ad tbh1”
One user said, “PETA continues to win at being the most annoying account on this app”. Adding to the above tweet, another wrote, “Imagine taking PETA seriously in any context at any point of time lol”

Memes flood Twitter!
This isn’t the first time PETA has been made fun of. The animal rights organization has time and again come under fire or has been mocked for their choice of campaigns.
Unsurprisingly to many, history has repeated itself on National Boob Day.
Weird picture, and weirder still is what exactly would be done with all the cows if we had no further use for them. They can‘t survive in the wild, and I don’t think farmers would keep them for no reason. So are you saying that instead of having cows for food, we wipe them out?
