“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of one of our brothers, Robert “Zippy” Bankosh,” Forbes Road Vfd announced via a statement shared on Facebook. “Zippy joined our department with several years of experience and as a former chief at a neighboring department. Despite his prior experience, he remained humble, joined as an entry level firefighter, and continued his training. He always had a smile on his face and had the ability to get along with anyone he came across. It was a sigh of relief when you saw him arrive at a stressful incident. Zippy, you will be forever missed by our department. Our hearts go out to your family that you cherished so much. Keep a watchful eye over your fellow brothers and sisters. Rest east our friend, until we meet again.”
