His co-stars sent him their well wishes with David Harbour, who plays Chief Jim Hopper writing: "Lova ya kid. Feel better."

Gaten Matarazzo, who stars as Dustin, tweeted: "Miss you buddy! Get better soon!!"

Noah's predicament had echoes of his character's ordeal in the show - which explores the creepy-goings on in the 1980s fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana.

Haunted by his experiences in sinister parallel world The Upside Down, Will spends some of the second series in a hospital bed being subject to an array of tests by doctors.
