Mountain Dew fans are hoping the beverage brand hasn’t introduced hot dogs infused with watermelon flavor as many are wondering whether the post featuring the unconfirmed item is real or fake.
Mountain Dew’s parent company Pepsi Co., has collaborated with several other brands to create some unique products, but hot dogs infused with one of its favorite soda drink wasn’t on our bingo card. So, let’s find out what’s the fuss about the so-called Mountain Dew Hot Dogs and if it’s even real.
Supposed Mountain Dew Hot Dogs aren’t new to the internet
Yes, it’s true that users have just come to learn about the so-called Mountain Dew Hot Dogs in watermelon flavor, but the idea has long existed on social media.
The much-despised combination of hot dog and the soda drink found its way onto the Internet earlier this year when a picture showing the alleged product went viral on social media.
The fad surrounding the unexciting food item started when X/Twitter user Jamey Jasta posted a photo on the platform sometime in July and its label read: “Dew Dogs from Mountain Dew” packed in a factory-sealed container.
Meanwhile, its description said: “Uncured beef franks blasted with original flavored Mountain Dew.”
However, the parent company did not officially launch such a product, and neither can it be found elsewhere on the Internet except in the viral Twitter post.
Melon-flavored frankfurter isn’t real
The unappetizing item is making headlines once again, thanks to its new version – infused with watermelon flavored soda drink.
But, you can tell at once the product or the image isn’t real, as the new post is an altered version of the previous one.
If you look closely, the price tags displayed underneath the product on the shelves in the new post are the same as the old one and furthermore, the same hand is holding the new flavor of hot dogs as well.
It is easy to say the old picture of the original Mountain Dew Hot Dogs is photoshopped to make it look as if the same item is released in melon flavor, but in pink packaging instead.
Users hope the Mountain Dew Hot Dogs are fake
The fake item is making social media users cringe with its odd combination of meat and soda.
One wrote: “This is crossing a line that man wasn’t meant to cross.”
“Hard Pass… I value an actual solid attempt at living a long and healthy life,” said another.
Another opined: “That’s a hard pass. I love hot dogs, but can’t stand Mtn. Dew. I can’t imagine that there would be enough mustard and chili to cover what would be a horrible taste.”
“Sweet Baby Jesus, look at all that sugar and Sodium… Not only it’s a NO, but HELL NO!!!” commented one.
