Hanson was born on 2 September 1989 in Bristol, England. He is the brother of BBC Radio Bristol host James Hanson. As of 2023, his age is 34 years. During his formative years, Hanson expressed interest in a variety of careers, from newsreader to detective and archbishop of Canterbury. On his twelfth birthday, Hanson received his first book on manners, John Morgan’s Tome on Etiquette, from his grandmother, and his interest grew from there. Hanson began teaching table manners in the third grade (year nine) at his school at the age of 17, for which he was featured in a local daily, as well as TV and radio programmes, earning him the title of “Britain’s youngest etiquette expert”. From 1996 to 2008, Hanson attended Clifton College. In 2011, she graduated with a BA (Hons) in English Language, Literacy and Communication from the University of Manchester.
